After 24 hours of travelling (not too bad, and I did make my connection despite US immigration queues) I arrived in Quito in the middle of last night. After a few hours sleep, I woke up to this view!
It's up at about 9000 feet and surrounded by volcanoes. The altitude means there's very little marauding wildlife, and it hasn't had too bad an effect on me so far. It's sunny and hot in the day and colder at night. I'll be here for about 10 days before going south to Shell - I've enrolled on intensive spanish classes for next week and will be generally getting used to the altitude, culture, food...
Glad to see you've arrived safe and well. I'll let the rest of Durham know your there!
