Reports and logistics - and about 100 pancakes

This week has been all about writing a technical report on the community of Cangaime (see earlier posts) for the municipality - describing their water system, and making recommendations for improvements.  The real challenge has been to write it in Spanish - I've tried to set it straight down in Spanish rather than translating, which is probably better as an end result but has been hard work.

Steph and I are giving up English for Lent.  Not totally, as you can see, but we're trying to speak to each other in Spanish - we spend so much time with each other both in the house and the office that this should be brilliant for our language skills.  Hopefully we won't get too frustrated at our inability to communicate!

Carnaval is over - it's been fun but is good now to be able to walk through town without getting attacked by water balloons and other less pleasant missiles.  We held a pancake party on Tuesday night to show both Ecuadorians and American what you're supposed to do with flour and eggs.

Next week we go back into Santa Rosa to construct a spring protection. Steph's been sending in materials all last week (everything has to go in by plane so requires lots of logistical planning), and we hope to go in to start on Monday.  Last weekend we got the news that there is no fuel for the planes - thank you for all your prayers on this.  They expect to receive fuel today, so there should be no problems with our Monday flight - but I'll keep you posted.  We're planning to be in for 2 weeks straight, returning Friday 5th.

Thank you for all your donations for the DelAgua kit.  There's a bit of a delay in the system between people giving and us getting the information, but I think we have almost reached our target.
