We've just come back from a holiday in Cartagena, Colombia. It was wonderful to relax by the sea, see the amazing historical town - and still be immersed in Spanish-speaking. I promise the photos are not from a travel brochure! We spent one day at the Isla del Sol surrounded by coral reefs; I have never seen the sea so blue.

A few photos of Christmas and holidays
We spent Christmas Eve having dinner with Alfredo's family (Ecuadorians have Christmas on the 24th at midnight, and then sleep on the 25th), and then the following day had American Christmas dinner with Dian and Steve Wilson and various other families who were still in Shell. Steph and I made a Christmas pudding which tasted AMAZING!
We sacrificed our post-Christmas lie-in to catch a bus to Quito and a Boxing Day party hosted by Sheila Leech from the UK - full of very English things like mince pies, mulled wine and cricket. As soon as we drove through the front gate and saw the flowers in the hedge it was like entering an English Country Garden... It was good to meet others from the UK (we're very much outnumbered in Shell by North-Americans) including some Latin Link missionaries I'd been in touch with.
